D1 should be presented in a report format.

Title / Terms of reference: A report on the business information that Merlin Entertainments should consider before investing in a new ride at Thorpe Park.

1. Explain what a STRATEGIC decision is.

2. Identify a strategic decision for Thorpe Park ( For
example a new ride).

3. Now explain that Merlin Entertainments would
have to carefully consider a range of business
information before taking the decision to invest in a
new ride.

4. Merlin Entertainments would produce a SWOT
analysis of Thorpe Park.


5. Explain how the SWOT could have been used to
help decide on the strategy.

analysis analysing external issues concerning Thorpe

If so they may not need to take out a loan. 
Why would using past profits be a better financing
option?

Is there enough land to build a new ride or will they
have to close an existing ride? If so which one?

External information:
What market research should they use before
deciding on what type of ride to buy? Why?
